Our workshops take participants literally out of their office to a stable with real horses in the real outdoors! Participants frequently first chat about the drive to the event. “I can’t believe the country is so close!” is a common refrain. For most people interacting with horses is a new experience and a very engaging one. Whether they’re afraid of horses – common but eventually overcome – or they’re in awe of their beauty, this is a team building activity that gets people thinking in a new way. Even participants who are familiar with horses love these team building activities.
All offsite outdoor team building activities with horses are done on the ground. There is no riding. Participants interact with each other as they interact with the horse.
Team Building at Your Site
Sometimes you’ll want a team building event at an indoor site, as part of a larger event such as a yearly kick-off. Technology makes it possible for you to get the benefits of our outdoor team building activities in the great indoors. Your employees get the equine experience through videotaped activities of horses and people interacting with horses. From there they follow the same process as they would at the barn.
- They reflect individually on what they saw and heard.
- They break into small groups to share their thoughts.
- They then present their thoughts back to the larger group.
The experience can generate any number of thought processes. We generally focus on business applications; but it’s the generation of new thoughts that matters.
Mustang’s business workshops are conducted as a learning experience for individuals or intact teams. In either case, a strong team spirit is important to help participants get the greatest impact from the workshop. For that reason, team building activities are sprinkled throughout every workshop. Team building is only effective if it creates a lasting effect. In all types of team building events, participants are given fun “homework” to keep the spirit going. The manager of a team has the most homework, since the leader of any team is at least as important as every follower. In all cases, follow-up through individual coaching is available, including individual coaching with the coach and the horse.
